Meet Shauna Thompson - PFC North's Groomer

Hello, my name is Shauna, 

I am 45 years old and love what I do at Pet Food Center. I have been warmly welcome and made to feel at home here at PFC North by the wonderful clients, staff, and members of management.

My son recently graduated from central high school with both academic and technical diplomas. He has started his career as a welding fabricator in Poseyville, Indiana.

I am a single mom of four furry family members: two dogs, Frank 14 years, and Kahula 3 years, two cats, Flash 12 years, and Sky 11 years. I was born and raised in Warrick County, which is where I started my grooming career 1999. I started as an intern, and had Cindy Ballard as my mentor and instructor. I worked at her grooming and boarding facility in Newburgh. She taught me that the key to being successful groomer is by having a thorough understanding for canine behavior and anatomy and applying that knowledge to grooming processes. She also taught me that the first and foremost, important part of grooming, is making sure that the dogs are comfortable and healthy.

I have contracted my services through multiple grooming shops in the tri-state area over the last 25 years and I have met, learned from, and trained many great groomers along the way. Most of my students have gone onto complete in grooming, competitions, open their own grooming, business, or have moved to bigger cities and become groomer instructors themselves. I have been pet first aid and CPR certified through the Red Cross and have worked with many animal, rescue organizations and dog trainers throughout my career. I continue to study and expand my growing knowledge and canine health education.

I’ve lived on the north side of Evansville since 2013, so I am very excited to be here at Pet Food Center North where I expect to see a lot of familiar faces and very excited to meet more wonderful people and their furry families too.

I couldn’t be more grateful and I am excited to be mentoring again. I’m looking forward to helping future generations of groomers and animal lovers to be successful in their pets career
